A Weekend for the Soul
Harel came from Tel Aviv to join our 2-day framebuilding course in Potsdam – not just to build a bike frame, but to do something for himself.
“I needed to do something for my soul,” he told us.
“Not for work, not for anyone else. Just for me.”
Harel is 53, runs a family grape farm in Israel, and usually works with carbon fiber and 3D printing. He’s even built his own bike before – but working with metal? That was new. And just a little bit intimidating.
“Brazing was my biggest dream and my biggest fear.”
But over the weekend, he stepped into the workshop and made it happen.
He arrived with a carefully planned design – the result of almost 55 emails back and forth before the course. Getting the fit and geometry exactly right mattered to him more than anything:
“The size and comfort were the most important things.
I think I got it just perfect for me.”
The course went so smoothly that we even finished a little early on Sunday – giving Harel time to sand down his frame and take in the moment before heading home.
“The whole course felt like one big dream that came true.”
His first experience with metal tubes, miters, and a torch – and a custom steel frame at the end of it.
He’s already thinking about coming back next year.
“To do something new. Another dream.”
