Frame Building Course Q & A – Michael
12. December 2023New Pathfinder Prototype
12. December 2023Giorgio completed our gravel frame building course in September 2020. I think the assembly of the complete bike looks really great, and Giorgio took some time to answer our questions.
How did you come up with the idea of building your own frame?
I decided to build my own frame because I wanted to experience the entire process from A to Z. When you know how bicycle frames are built, you appreciate this item even more. Bicycles are, for me, the most efficient form of transport, and riding is just fun. A frame building course is a unique opportunity to learn more about bicycles.
Why did you choose this frame? What do you plan to do with it?
I wanted to build a gravel frame because I love riding on forest paths without sacrificing speed. My bike is suitable for multi-day tours, which is ideal for me. To carry more weight, I also chose a steel fork. Currently, I use the frame for weekend tours. Whenever the opportunity arises, I would love to organize a multi-month tour.
What is special to you about your self-built frame?
The truly special thing about my bike is that I built the frame with my own hands. It’s a great feeling!
How was your time in the frame building course?
I really enjoyed learning from Robert and chatting with him. The location of the workshop was also unique. With its forests, waters, and bike paths, Potsdam is a place you must see.
How does your finished bike ride?
My gravel frame is very comfortable and absorbs rough hits very well. It’s easy to ride while still being very sporty.
How did you find me, and how did you hear about the frame building courses?
I had been looking for a frame building course in Germany for a while. What convinced me to book a course with Robert were the many positive reviews I could find.
