Bike & Bivy – 2-Day-Bikepacking-Adventure

Update (September 18, 2025)

A few weeks ago, Nils and I pre-rode the route. Apart from one sandy section (almost unrideable), we were very happy. We’ve since re-planned the route so that this sandy part is no longer included.

Route info:

• Time: 9:37 h

• Distance: 129 km

• Elevation: 510 m

• Tire recommendation: at least 35 mm (I tested with 35s and it worked fine, even loaded for an overnighter). For more comfort, I recommend 47 mm.

Compared to last year, the route is a bit more challenging. The distance is shorter, but because of the off-road nature of the track we’ll be moving slower.

Meeting point & arrival:
We start on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
Arrival from 8:00 am at the workshop, address:

We plan to roll out at 9:00 am.

This year we’re also offering the option to camp at the workshop on Friday night. The workshop will be locked at 22:00; before that you can get water and use the bathroom.

New destination:
Originally, we had planned to stay at a simple bivouac site with no amenities. After some feedback, we’ve changed the destination to 👉 Kolbatzer Mühle. There’s a beer garden, campfire, and also breakfast available.
➡️ If you’d like breakfast, please let me know so they can plan for the right number of people.

Food:
There isn’t much food along the route. On the pre-ride, Nils and I stopped at a McDonald’s at km 45 and found a very small snack bar at km 80 — that was about it. Please be mostly self-sufficient with food and snacks.

Return options:
The route partly follows the R5 regional train line, so it’s possible to take the train back either on Saturday evening or Sunday morning (about 2 hours). At least one of us plans to take the train back on Saturday evening.

In principle, the plan is to ride back along the same route.
